Cy Twombly Photographs
This exhibition catalogue includes color reproductions of photographs included in the exhibition, a list of plates with descriptions of the photographs, their subjects, and their production, and a short entry by William Katz.
Katz writes of the photographs that they “are not conventional…they are built up from something within rather than extracted from something without.” He reflects on the artist’s use of a Polaroid camera, comparing it to “a composer’s score.” He also offers insights into the process of producing prints for the exhibition. He concludes by noting that “the prints…convey the most subtle variations of energy and evanescent feeling.”
