A year ago, the project "A Tree for Every Inhabitant" was launched by Fondazione Nicola Del Roscio, in collaboration with the Cy Twombly Foundation. Over the next ten years, it aims to plant more than twenty thousand trees in Gaeta, improving the balance between inhabitants and green spaces, raising environmental awareness, and contributing to sustainability, urban regeneration, and well-being.
The Cy Twombly Foundation, amongst its philanthropic activities, proudly supports this meaningful project, as Gaeta was home to Cy Twombly for over thirty years, and its landscape a source of inspiration for many of his works.
As part of this project, the first phase was recently completed at a site in Piazza Risorgimento, adjacent to the medieval historic center. For this area, plants native to the Mediterranean scrub were selected, chosen for their compatibility with the local landscape and with the distinctive stylistic and environmental features of Gaeta.
