On June 11, 2026, the Art Institute of Chicago will hold a two-part event in dialogue with Cy Twombly’s works in the museum collection.
The first part of the event will take place in the gallery featuring Cy Twombly’s work, where pianist and NEA Jazz Master Marilyn Crispell will join Sam Lincoln, curatorial assistant in Modern and Contemporary Art, for a gallery talk discussing the artist’s work and its connections to music.
The second part of the event will feature a performance by Marilyn Crispell and fellow musicians in dialogue with the artist's work.
