The Menil Collection will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Cy Twombly Gallery beginning in February with special programs about the work and legacy of the artist.

Organized by art historian Thierry Greub, the conference will see the gathering of art historians, curators, conservators, scholars and artists, from Europe and the United States, to explore “blind spots” in Twombly’s œuvre and to subject common narratives to a critical revision.

A conversation with art historian Thierry Greub and composer Walter Zimmermann to present Greub’s latest publication Cy Twombly: Inscriptions.

Presented at Fondazione Nicola Del Roscio, the ambitious project will add over twenty thousand new trees in Gaeta, Cy Twombly’s beloved city.

Dean Rader, author of the recently published Before the Borderless: Dialogues with the Art of Cy Twombly, will be reading his poems at The Lillian Vernon Creative Writers House at NYU, New York.

Two recent publishing projects, Cy Twombly. Inscriptions by Thierry Greub and Cy Twombly et la critique Américaine 1951–1955. Histoire d'une réception by Richard Leeman, will be presented at Fondazione Nicola Del Roscio, Rome.

Researcher Anthi-Danaé Spathoni will discuss her recent paper Reading, Scribbling, Copying: Cy Twombly and the Modern Greek Poets.

Art historian and lecturer Thierry Greub will lead a tour of the exhibition Cy Twombly, on view at Gagosian, 980 Madison Avenue, New York, on February 23, 2023.

Inside the current exhibition Cy Twombly, the musician, producer, and film and television composer, Isabella Summers, will present her piece “To Neptune, Ruler of the Seas Profound” inspired by Twombly’s life and work.
