A cultural portrait of Cy Twombly and his deep connection with the city of Rome to celebrate the opening of the permanent gallery dedicated to the artist at the museum.

The Menil Collection will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Cy Twombly Gallery beginning in February with special programs about the work and legacy of the artist.

Organized by art historian Thierry Greub, the conference will see the gathering of art historians, curators, conservators, scholars and artists, from Europe and the United States, to explore “blind spots” in Twombly’s œuvre and to subject common narratives to a critical revision.

Presented at Fondazione Nicola Del Roscio, the ambitious project will add over twenty thousand new trees in Gaeta, Cy Twombly’s beloved city.

Researcher Anthi-Danaé Spathoni will discuss her recent paper Reading, Scribbling, Copying: Cy Twombly and the Modern Greek Poets.
